William H. Brophy, M.D.                                                                                         President

William H. Brophy, M.D. graduated from the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Tucson in 1985. He completed residency training in Family Practice in Scottsdale Arizona. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Maggie’s Place ( a home for expectant mothers who are alone or are living on the street). Medical practice interest is in Geriatrics. He is also a Regional Director for the CMA (Catholic Medical Association). He is a parishioner of St. Anne’s in Mesa.

 Maricela P. Moffitt, M.D., M.P.H.                                                                         Treasurer

Marci Moffitt graduated from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston in 1986. She completed training in Internal Medicine and later obtained a Masters degree in Public Health. She is currently holds the academic rank of Associate Professor of Medicine and serves as the Director of the Doctoring Curriculum at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix and as a part time Hospitalist at the VA in Phoenix. She serves as the Vice President for the Catholic Medical Association (CMA), on 1st Way Board of Directors, the HOPE Mobile Ultrasound Board and the Phoenix Diocesan Medical Ethics Board. She teaches with her husband in the RCIA program at Corpus Christi parish. She is married to Dr. Robert A. Moffitt; they have three children.

 


 

 
James Asher, DO                                                                                               Secretary

Jim Asher graduated from the College of Osteopathic Medicine-Des Moines University in 1973.  He completed a residency in Family Practice at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1976.  He has completed the certificate program in bioethics from the National Catholic Bioethics Center, and has a MA in bioethics from Midwestern University, where he is also adjunct faculty.  He works part-time at the Phoenix Indian Medical Center ED, from which he retired in 2007.  He and his wife of 46 years, Rose, have 7 children and 13 grandchildren.  He is a member of Sts. Simon & Jude parish.

 
 
 
 

 
  Rev. John D.Ehrich, STL                                                                                    Chaplain

Rev. John D. Ehrich, STL is the Pastor of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Phoenix. He obtained his licentiate in moral theology from the Accademia Alfonsiana, which is part of the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome. He was appointed by Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted to serve as the Chaplain for the Catholic Physicians Guild of Phoenix in 2004. In this role he provides spiritual direction and presents talks on moral, theological, and spiritual topics. In October 2009 he was appointed by Bishop Olmsted the Director of the Medical Ethics and Chair of a newly formed Medical Ethics Board. Fr. John also was also appointed the chaplain to the National Catholic Medical Association (CMA) in January 2009.
